Lightbulb Engineer - Michael Pick
I’m just starting work for the awesome Automattic Inc as their resident Lightbulb Engineer, and hope to be experimenting with creating penny-drops moments in WordPress-land in the coming weeks and months.
In case you’re wondering, my job has nothing to do with changing (or designing) lightbulbs (how many bloggers does it take to change a lightbulb?). The idea here is really about shedding light, and inspiring those lightbulb-over-head moments where things fall into place and it all makes sense. I’ll be attempting to do this with how-to videos and other multimedia content designed to make life as a WordPresser even easier than it already was.
For the last year or so I’ve been running my own freelance new media production company Smashcut Media. I’m in the process of closing down shop over there, and wrapping up some final work. I’m afraid I’m not available for any further projects.

Under the Smashcut Media monicker I made demos, screencasts and (dare I say) kick ass motion promos for some awesome startups and web 2.0 types - from the DataPortability workgroup to KickApps, WordPress to Profy - with dozens of others along the way. It’s been a ball.
